SUMMARY:
The late King Faisal was born in 1907 and was the second son
of King Abdul Aziz Ibn e Sa'ud. He got
Religious education from his maternal grandfather, Sheikh
Abdullah bin Abdul Latif.
Faisal started taking interest in state affairs and helped
his father after his education. He was made Governor of Hijaz at twenty and
later served as Saudi Foreign Minister. He also got the opportunity of
commanding the armed forces of the country. He was made the crown prince and
the Prime Minister in 1958 after the death of his father, while his brother
Sa'ud became the king. Faisal was chosen as the king in 1964 by the council of
Ministers, when his elder brother, King Sa'ud fell seriously ill. He was a
religious person and a good Muslim. He loved his people and ruled the country
justly and wisely. He did a lot for developing his country. He made every
effort to increase the production of oil in Saudi Arabia as mineral oil is the
main source of Saudi Arabia. He set up new factories and mills due to which
Saudi Industries developed greatly. Furthermore, he worked for making the
desert area useable. So through proper irrigation, he brought new lands under
civilization. He opened many schools and universities, where financial support
is given to the students, so that they can get the free education. He also
opened many hospitals and dispensaries to serve the people and many Pakistani
doctors, and nurses are working there. He also provided many facilities to the
pilgrims. He had a strong wish to unite the Muslims of the world and did a lot
to bring them closer. He supported Pakistan in holding Islamic summit
conference at Lahore in 1974. He was a
well-wisher of Pakistan. He was deeply grieved on the separation of East
Pakistan, which is now Bangladesh. He was totally against the state of Israel
because of their enmity towards the Arabs. He supported the Arabs against
Israel in the war. He was very disappointed when Israelis set "Al-Aqsa'
mosque on fire.
His wicked nephew killed King Faisal on 25th March, 1975. The
feeling of the whole Muslim world was inexpressible. All the Muslims were
grieved over his death. He was such a great man who lived like a soldier and
died as a martyr. His death was not only the loss of Saudia but it was the loss
of the whole Muslim world. The Muslims all over the world felt the loss of such
a great religious leader who was the guardian of two Holy places of Makah and
Medina.
